F1R3FLY provides extremely secure sharing of sensitive data between different organizations. Regular reporting of security breaches leading to ransom demands and/or massive organizational disruption is a regular drumbeat these days. As a result, many organizations that could benefit hugely from really secure data sharing don't even consider it. F1R3FLY's approach leverages its technology for storing data securely on data shards using Byzantine Fault Tolerant (BFT) security. This has never been successfully hacked in twenty years of use by Bitcoin. Its data sharing is governed both by private key access AND by "caps" (short for "capabilities") that give highly granular control over the entire process.
For each participant in a data sharing session, F1R3FLY establishes a separate connection with a F1R3FLY shard that handles the exchange of data between all the participants. Each connection is protected by BFT security. Unlike most implementations of this, F1R3FLY runs this using concurrent processing. This enables it to run many thousands of times faster than – say – Bitcoin with absolutely no reduction in security. Because data is only exchanged through the shard and over more than one BFT-secured connection, any would-be hacker would have massive difficulty even identifying what connections are involved, let alone trying to hack them. There is more! F1R3FLY uses private key access to give a validated user access to the shard. But even with this, there is a further layer of granular security. This is provided by the Caps that are issued – invisibly, as far as the user is concerned – by the system according to each organization's security policy to unlock access to specific data. A Cap and the Smart Contract within it is sent by the data provider's system to allow an item of data to be placed onto the shard for sharing. A further Cap and Smart Contract is issued by any authorized receiver of the data to enable it to be passed on to them. This gives extremely detailed control over the sharing process. This solution allows data interchange to occur between theoretically any number of participants from two upwards, each governed by this very granular security. Subject to this, data can be “broadcast” from one participant to all or some others joined to the shard as required. The data that is being transferred in each case always passes through the shard and from there to any validated recipients with the right credentials and Caps.
